Can a person of type 2 diabetes get a tattoo?

It’s a question that I’ve been wondering. I have type 2 diabetes, sugar levels ok, and I was just wondering if a tattoo will affect me.

Type 2 diabetes will not be affected by a tattoo. I must disagree with the previous response. I have 3 tattoos and none of them were painful or uncomfortable at all. Express yourself. I wish you the very best of health and may God bless.

The ‘trauma’ of getting a tattoo may make your sugar go down, so take some gatorade with you and it’s fine.
I’m a type 1 diabetic, and i have a tattoo on my back (an ankh entwined with DNA strand) and i’m geting a Caddeceus on my wrist as a medic alert device. Can’t forget that one !

With controlled sugar levels, sure. A lot of places won’t tattoo you if you have uncontrolled sugar levels, as there is a much higher risk of infection and a much longer healing time.

Well, you are risking an infection, for you know diabetic people are more prone to them. But if sugar levels are OK, the risk is not much higher. Keep it clean, and as any other person who wants a tattoo, beware of hepatitis B or C and watch that they use clean needles. Don’t go to an ordinary tom dick and larry tattoo. And get it checked up by a physician.
