General nutrition question…?
I know how to read the back of food wrappers that tell the grams of this and the grams of that… but what is the correct amount of each should a person should take in, in one day? How many grams of fat is good for a person, how many grams of sugar is good– how many carbs. etc…
I am 5′ 8′ tall and 160 lbs. and have been gaining weight. How much of each of these should I be taking in, in order to control my weight?
Can anyone recommend a good book relating to general nutrition habits?
I recently took a course on diet and exercise and I found it very interesting. It gave me a great deal of insight about proper diet and nutrition. Unfortunately, however a sizable portion of the class was related to disease and my knowledge of nutrition, while much greater than before, is still somewhat minimal.
I would like to get my hands on some books or software related to good nutrition and exercise habits. I’m not looking for anything extremely technical, but something that provides good insight and advice that an average person (I’m studying history and have little knowledge of science) can understand. Any suggestions?
I should note that I’m not looking to reduce my weight. If anything I’d like to gain some muscle mass and likely increase it.

Chem or bio as a minor for nutrition?
What would be a better minor for a major in nutrition–chemistry or biology?
Also, if I were to become a dietitian who counsels people with eating disorders, would I minor in psychiatry?
But that aside, which is a better minor for nutrition in general, chem or bio?
Yes, I meant to write psychology!
New to working out, good books to read on nutrition and general workout tips?
Im new to working out. Im not in terrible shape, but i have a bit of a pot belly and I keep hearing that 6 pack abs start in the kitchen. I have no idea where to start on learning how to eat properly. Id like some books that would teach me how to set up a proper diet to burn fat and build muscle.
How difficult is general physics?
How difficult is the course “general physics” in college? I looked at the list of courses in the curriculum for nutrition/dietitics and “general physics” is one of them. What would I be studying exactly?
Where can I get cheap, online nutrition and fitness courses?
I’m not looking to become certified. Right now I just want to learn as much as I can about applied fitness and nutrition (without diet-craze influenced bias) and want to take some classes.
Does anyone know of any legitimate, relatively cheap online courses in fitness and nutrition? I’m looking for general courses, but sports fitness and nutrition would be fine as well. Thanks!
*I’m not trying to lose weight, I want to eventually become a Personal Trainer and want a foundation before my certification courses.
Will general exercise and nutrition, on top of leg rehab, help in healing a calcaneus fracture?
Just commenced partial weight-bearing on my left foot, after nine weeks on crutches. Using an orthopaedic boot and one crutch to gradually transfer weight to the affected foot, which is progressing nicely. How long will it take to resume normal bipedal locomotion? Will additional exercise, beyond leg training, assist in the healing and rehabilitation process? Will I be able to jog again, I am an avid weight-lifter and runner. Please someone let me know! I cannot allow my body to atrophy any longer.
Is udon soup (japanese, take-out) a healthy meal option, nutrition-wise?
I like to get vegetable udon soup at the take-out japanese restaurant near me and I’m wondering if it is a nutritionally good or bad meal option, in general (and why)? Can any nutrition experts/enthusiasts shed any light on this for me? Thanks!
Note: not looking for weight loss tips, but specific nutritional info and insight for this specific dish/food.
