Gestational Diabetes – a few questions, newly diagnosed?
Hi,
I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I failed 2 of the 3 parts of the 3 hour test. My 1 hour was 197, my 2 hour was 174, and my 3 hour was 118. I am seeing an endocrinologist next week. Until then I was hoping some of you folks could share your stories. I never in a million years thought I would have this. Also, does this further lower your immune system? I am 27 weeks pregnant, 32 years old. So far I have gained 19 lbs. There are so many things in pregnancy to worry about….
Hi, I know what you mean. When I found out I had it I was in complete shock. I had it with my first child and I didn’t see an endocrinologist, my doctor just had me keep track of my blood sugar by testing it 4 times a day {first thing in the morning before I ate anything, after breakfast, after lunch, and after dinner}, and eating healthy. I didn’t have to take insulin. My son was big at birth but I don’t know if I could attribute it to my husband {who was 9 lbs 12 oz at birth} or the gestational diabetes but I had to have a c section with my son at 38 weeks and he was 10 lbs 3 oz and 22 inches. I didn’t have gestational diabetes with my daughter, so that was a relief. I thought I would have it with every following pregnancy. If you have any questions or anything email me anytime and I will try to answer.
