Gestational diabetes? Long with a lot of questions!!?
I failed my 1 hour test at 28 weeks. I’m 30 weeks now and just took my 3 hour test today. I had a bad reaction to the orange sugary drink that you have to drink. I almost fainted,got hot and just felt so sleepy…..the nurses gave me cold clothes,made me lay down and someone had to stay with me the whole time.Stupid question but does this mean that i have gestational diabetes? or did i just have a weird reaction to it? I’m scared that i have gestational diabetes.A lady in the waiting room told me that i probably have gestational diabetes because of the reaction that i had to the drink(she was NOT a nurse.) Did anybody have the same reaction and have gestational diabetes? Thanks!
I took that test three times already! The second time, the orange drink was replaced by a double-dosed red one! I almost vomited, got very weak and sleepy! My husband had to stay with me the whole time becauase i thought I was going to fall….no diabetes though, I think it’s just a natural way our pregnant bodies react to fasting and sugary disgusting drinks!! Don’t worry and if you do have it, it’s not the end of the world…you’ll be just fine!
Gestational diabetes will be diagnosed if two of the following values are exceed the normal limit.
Fasting – 95 mg/dL
1 hour – 180 mg/dL
2 hours – 155 mg/dL
3 hours – 140 mg/dL
Naturally I cannot share you experience, but, I thought you would like to know the stardard you will be measured by should you be able to complete the test.
