How can you treat an infected site caused by a diabetes insulin pump?

The infected site is a lump under the skin, is warm and red on the outside.

Cover the site with a hot towel, as hot as you can stand it, and cover that with plastic. Keep changing the towel as it gets cold, but the plastic will hold in body heat so you won’t have to do it very often. The moisture will eventually pull the infection out. May take a few days to a week.

You might want to call the doctor’s office to see if they want to do antibiotics, but… I don’t like depending on them.

The sweet news is nearly 80% of our population is going to be diates in the near future. The shocking news is the so-called experts dont know the cause and they are treating the patients from the developing stage to the final stage. Treatment, treatment, treatment-till death. Doctors are well off. Hospitals are in very good conditions and they are skyrocketing. But, the patients are poorer and poorer because of various tests, x-rays, scans, etc. Life-long medications, injections, dialysis, kidney transplantations etc.etc. It is time to think whether we have to live or the doctors have to live. Diabetic is a condition and not a diesease. Who is making this as a permanant disease? Poison is injected into our body right from the womb till death. Our body could not bear those poisons. The reason for diabetes is not over eating, obesity, lack of exercise, lack of nutrition etc. etc. It is something else which is shocking to the medical world whick is stereophonically repeating the same thing. I have only given a guideline for you to think and to live a healthy life. Diabetes is not cureable is also false. Diabetes is completely curable in Acupuncture. Regards. This has actually happened to me twice in six years. It is painful, but fairly easy to treat. Place a warm washrag on the area and make sure it is very clean. I put hydrogen peroxide on the hard lump and then antibiotic ointment and a small bandaide. It took about two days, but got better. The scar lasted about three weeks.

    Good luck!!

If the lump is under the skin, you need to go to the doctor to get antibiotics. It sounds like cellulitus. This can turn into a much more serious infection, which in rare cases, can be deadly if it gets into your bloodstream.

If *only* the area around the catheter site is red and a little inflamed, then is is OK to treat with topical antibiotic cream. A hard lump under the surface cannot be reached with topicals. You might heal over the outside leaving the infected tissue inside. At least, I wouldn’t advise you to risk that.

It’s not smart to take chances with infections, especially if you have diabetes. You need to clear the infection and heal from the inside out, and the only way to clear this type of infection under the skin is with antibiotics. Please see your doctor.

Tea Tree Oil has antibiotic qualities and it penetrates the skin. Get some and apply it a few times daily.

Go to the doctor to get it checked, or at least call

Get a hot towel and apply it on the site. If it does not subside, see a nurse practitioner or a doctor to check if it is still infected. You may need antibiotics. But usually it does subside with a hot towel. I think you have phlebitis from the needle that was in your vein. Was it kept for a long time? Just wondering.

My daughter had this a few years ago and it can be very serious.
Get to a doctor right away and start on antibiotics. My daughter did three rounds before he had to go in with a scalpel and get rid of that infection.
It was so bad.Do not wait.Trust me.
