I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2 year’s ago and I am 28 now, is it possible?
I was abt 75-80 kg when I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 before approximately 2 years. I have also had protein secretion in my urine detected recently. Is it possible that the kidney starts deteriorating so early? I have a family history of both diabetes and kidney disorder. Is it possible that if I loose some weight things will be back to normal? please help. what should I be doing or not doing in order to get things back to normal ?
unfortunately you have to live with diabetes for the rest of your life. the good thing is that its very manageable. losing some weight is a good start but talk to your Dr first and talk to him about other ways to try to be as normal as possible
Possible yes….my mother was 24 when she was diagnosed with typ-2 and she was at perfect weight then….about the kidney’s i don’t THINK so but, not positive…my mothers almost fifty and just started to have kidney problems…and if you were at a healthy or target weight according to your doctors when you were diagnosed then losing weight will not help…the only time it helps is if you were obese or over weight and diagnosed. The biggest thing is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE follow your diabetic diet and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take your insulin/pills and prescribed! My mothers doctor told her she shaved 10 yrs or more off her life by not following those 2 rules…..because diabetes takes a huge toll on your body and if not taken care of over the years causes numerous problems…the biggest being not being able to heal quickly or normally..you heal slower even from a simple paper cut…etc….If you just follow the diet and take your meds normally like prescribed and exercise or atleast walk a mile or more 4 x’s a week you’re doing a HUGE part of taking care of it. GOOD LUCK and i hope i helped!
diabetes of type 2 is when u take tablets not insulin, then by loosing weight alone u cannot escape, take tablets , diet control and excerise regulary, keep ur glucose level under check, this may help u and ur kidneys may be safe… protien secretion must stop , there r some good pills, it can be controlled… best of luck..
I am also a 28 year old type 2 diabetic. I was diagnosed in 2005. I was told that if I lost weight then I may need just pills for the forseeable future. well…..I lost 100 pounds and guess what? My sugar was high for a month or so in January of this year. I wasn’t doing anything diffrent but it was always high. I went to the hospital after taking it and my meter just said HI which means it was over 500.
I was dehydrated and really sick. I had keytones in my urine (same as protien in your urine) I’ve been on insulin since then. The keytones in the urine can be treated without damaging your kidneys permanetely. I would go see my doctor as soon as possible.
BTW- If you want to check the keytones in your urine yourself then all you have to do is go to Wal-Mart where they sell the Diabetic Meters and they sell the strips you pee on and it tells you how much Keytones are in your urine.
