Is type 2 diabetes a lack of blood sugar?

If it is, why are there medications used for type 2 diabetes to LOWER blood sugar?

Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes results in high blood sugar. Type 1 is the body’s inability to make insulin. Type 2 is when they make insulin but their body is resistant to it and doesn’t use it properly. Both result in high blood sugar.

Low blood sugar conditions are known as hypoglycemia.

No, Diabetes (type one or two) is the inability of the pancreas to produce enough insulin to regulate blood sugar. Untreated it is more likely to produce a high sugar, than a low one.

Actually, Type 2 is usually for obese people, i’ve been studying diabetes since im 10 and i know everything about it now. So Type 2 is for ppl who have too much sugar in their blood and the pancreas cant take it anymore. It has a cure, not a medicine, but the cure is you, if you do some exercise and healthy food routine.

Low blood sugar is called as hypoglycemia, Side effects of diabetes medication that is the medication dosage is high than required on that particular instance so the blood glucose level is brought below normal.

In the other hand type 2 or 1 diabetes is high level of glucose in blood, when it is controlled tightly near normal then some times accidental it drops below normal called by hypoglycemia (low blood glucose). Still it is advisable to control near normal.

I have been type one diabetic for 17 years.

Type 2 diabetes is when the pancreas is still making insulin just not as much as it should.

type one, insulin dependent diabetics, their pancreas doesn’t make any insulin whatsoever, and rely on mutable injections, daily.

Both types can run high and low blood sugars and need to be monitored closely.

edit: when the sugar is high, more insulin is needed (in both types), to bring it down (many health problems can accure, high sugars can result in diabetic coma, and death). when the sugar is low, sugar is needed to raise it (I drink juice it works very quickly).

    hope this helps :)

I am agree with malica, cause all diabetes type have high blood sugar. too high blood sugar for long time…..is not good for healthy, can increase risk of disease like stroke, heart attack and kidney disease……..so controlled blood sugar in normal level is the solutions, get more info by visiting link site below

All diabetes, Type 1 AND Type 2 is HIGH blood sugar. that is what the term “diabetes” means. ALL diabetics need treatment to LOWER their blood sugar. Type 1 Diabetes NEEDS insulin, or they will die. Many Type 2 Diabetics can use other drugs.

LOW blood sugar is called Hypoglycemia. This happens when you don’t eat enough, and it happens to normal peoples. Diabetics need to be careful because if they take too much medicine and do not eat enough, they may have a “hypo attack”, which can be fatal.
