You didn’t give much info. Are you type 1 or type 2? Your blood sugar normally peaks around 2-3 hours after a meal. With decent control you should try to keep the peaks under 140. Trying to stay under 100 at all times is pretty unrealistic.
Well, I am newly diagnosed, and have been told that it can take months to get the right combination of medications to lower your blood sugar just right, but yes, I think it’s supposed to stay around that. Some can manage this with diet and exercise, others like me have a constant struggle with this. Mine after I eat is roughly 260 no matter what I do, so my medications are getting changed very soon.

As a healthcare provider I tell my patients that thier blood sugar reading after eating should be less than 180. Your goal is not to have a blood sugar that is steadily about 100…..you’d have to never eat. The goal is to keep it as close to normal (like someone without diabetes) as possible. People that do not have diabetes have blood sugar levels that are below 180 after they eat. There is alot to learn about this disease. I always try to get my patients to go to a diabetic educator….most hospitals have one. Diabetics can have a long life without complications as long as they stick to a diabetic lifestyle. Truthfully, it’s such a healthy lifestyle that everybody should be on it. The difference is that people without diabetes will get out of shape, or fat, etc, by not living that lifestyle. But for diabetics that may be the result too but it will also cause blindness, kidney failure, lower leg ulcers that will not heal and can lead to amputation. It’s up to you to live the life that can be healthy for you…..otherwise……just like everything else….there will be prices to pay.
