ourventura.com Professional burlesque dancer, Amanda Lynne, dedicates her career to Diabetes. Amanda is a Type 1 Juvenile Diabetic and is a spokesperson for the Landon Pediatric Foundation for Juvenile Diabetes. In this “Our Ventura” interview with Frank James Malle, Amanda discusses how dance, as well as exercise in general, helps to eliminate blood sugar and balance out carbohydrates. Amanda discusses the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes: * Type 1, born with it and is not curable and requires insulin injection for life. * Type 2, is brought on by poor diet and lack of exercise, and it’s curable. She also talks about how diabetes can lead to heart disease and kidney failure and even loss of limbs. Amanda discusses Mary Tyler Moore and her position as the International Chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International and calls attention to August as “National Diabetes Month.” She is also a costumer designer and discusses how she was inspired by Lady Gaga, who makes all her own costumes as well. Amanda presents one of her dance costumes as part of this interview. Producer: GeorgeAlger.com Sponsor SkyworksMarketing.com Sponsor PJmurals.com

Bristol-Myers Squibb CEO Lamberto Andreotti announces Together on Diabetes®: Communities Uniting to Meet America’s Diabetes Challenge, a 5-year, $100 million initiative by the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation to help patients living with type 2 diabetes better manage their diabetes beyond the doors of their doctor’s office. Type 2 diabetes affects about one in 12 Americans and could affect as many as one in three Americans by 2050. The largest corporate philanthropic commitment to fighting diabetes in the United States, Together on Diabetes® will help remove barriers to diabetes diagnosis and care — and enhance diabetes patient support — by empowering patients to understand their role in managing their diabetes and reducing the risks it can pose to their health.
