What foods are best to eat after being recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes?

Doc says it can be controlled with diet and exercise. I do not eat bread, potatoes or pasta because I do not like them. What is safe to eat? Meat? Cheese? Eggs? Milk?

My mom has just been diagnosed with TYPE 2 Diabetes?

I’m scared and new to the whole diabetes scene. I’ve searched online for meals and proper care…I’m still worried that I haven’t covered all corners. Its all new to our family, my mom is the first person to develop diabetes. Can anyone offer tips or good reading? She’s getting out of the hospital in another week so I’m trying to prepare myself as well as my brothers and sisters. Thanks in advance for your help.

I was abt 75-80 kg when I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 before approximately 2 years. I have also had protein secretion in my urine detected recently. Is it possible that the kidney starts deteriorating so early? I have a family history of both diabetes and kidney disorder. Gestational Diabetes – a few questions, newly diagnosed?

Hi,
I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I failed 2 of the 3 parts of the 3 hour test. My 1 hour was 197, my 2 hour was 174, and my 3 hour was 118. I am seeing an endocrinologist next week. Until then I was hoping some of you folks could share your stories. I never in a million years thought I would have this. Also, does this further lower your immune system? I am 27 weeks pregnant, 32 years old. So far I have gained 19 lbs. There are so many things in pregnancy to worry about….
