Did you have to take insulin during your pregnancy because of gestational diabetes?
My wife has to take insulin 3 times a day now. Just curious as to how it went for you, and if you had any complications with your health, or your baby’s health.

Gestational Diabetes and taking insulin?
I have to take insulin 4 times daily now and am wondering if anyone else has had to do this (I’m 31 weeks pregnant).
Was your baby okay? How soon after birth did your diabetes go away? Any other experience and information would be great.

I have gestational diabetes and am insulin dependant. I am worried that my diabetes is going to affect my baby
and that he is going to be still born. My diabetes is controlled but I think not well enough- When I mention it the doc. they don’t really do much.. I am at 30 weeks right now and my fasting numbers are at 150 and after meals the dr wants them below 95 while mine are running in the 120s. At what numbers does it start doing damage to the baby? Should I be worried? As of now my baby is 3lbs, not too big-

gestational diabetes… or diabetes all along?
I am almost 33 weeks pregnant and found out a couple of weeks ago that I have gestational diabetes. The first test I took, my level was 170 where it should’ve been 140 or lower. I then did the three hour test and was told that 2 out of the 3 tests were abnormal, so I was then diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
They gave me a diet plan and as long as I follow that pretty well I can keep my numbers right on track. They told me that usually after the baby is born, the blood sugar will go back to normal.
My question is, how do I know that I didn’t have diabetes even before I got pregnant? My mom had gestational diabetes while pregnant with me, her dad had diabetes, my dad and his mom had diabetes, so it runs on both sides of the family. I am a hypochondriac, but even before I was pregnant I ate a lot and slept a lot, and also felt some tingling in my hands and feet. My life has never been easy and I’ve dealt with depression and A LOT of stress these past couple of years, so I’m wondering if my poor eating habits and lethargy were due to just life stresses or diabetes?
I never checked my blood sugar levels before I was pregnant, except occasionally when I saw my family members checking theirs. I was never tested for it before or anything. My doctor told me I’m probably okay because if I had been diabetic prepregnancy, sugar would’ve shown up in my urine and that has never happened. I have had hypoglycemia twice since I’ve been pregnant, where I felt shaky and needed to sit down and eat. I did not have that before I was pregnant ever.
So… does it sound like I’m okay and my levels will return to normal after I give birth? Or do you think I’ve always been a diabetic? I’m so confused and my doctor doesn’t really give me answers.
They didn’t tell me my levels for the three hour one. Only that 2 of 3 were abnormal.
Well I called them and found out.
Fasting 91 Normal <95
1 hour 214 Normal <180
2 hour 179 Normal <155
3 hour 144 Normal <140

stress test two times a week for insulin dependent gestational diabetes??
She is fetal monitor specialist and said I will have to take stress test to monitor baby movements every week. And after 34 weeks 2 times every week. If I have to do it I will. But just feeling is this doctor doing this for Money? Do they really need to monitor baby every week two times a day if you have insulin dependent gestational diabetes?
Please only answer if you had a gestational diabetes or you know somebody with insulin dependent gestational diabetes and how many times they took this test. Since my gynacologist referred me to her I don’t want to ask this question to my gynacologist. Thank you.

At what point will insulin be necessary for gestational diabetes?
I’m 31 weeks pregnant, gestational diabetes, my blood sugars since I’ve been monitoring with the special made diet have been elevated several times. My range is below 120 two hours after meals, below 95 fasting. My fasting, breakfast, & lunch ranges have all been high. I really don’t want to go on insulin but wondering if dr. will find it is best with these high readings.
Some questions about Gestational Diabetes.?
I’m 26 weeks tomorrow. Yesterday I found out that I failed my one-hour glucose test and am scheduled for a three-hour test next week. I’m a little worried and am already trying to make changes to my diet that I know will help if I am indeed diabetic. There are some things I’d like to know in advance, however, from your experiences.
1. Will I need to start seeing a high-risk doctor? Will this be at the recommendation of my OB?
2. Is there still a chance that I will pass the second test, even though I failed the first?
3. I know that having GD increases your risk for having a bigger baby and consequently having trouble during delivery. How common are other complications related to GD, especially those that would affect the baby?
Thanks for all answers.
Thanks so far…and I am worried because I do have a family history of type 2 diabetes (both my mom and dad have it). I know that may or may not affect my risk for gestational diabetes, but I’m just prone to worrying I guess. Thanks for everyone’s reassurance.
gestational diabetes and feeling sad?
i have gestational diabetes and managing it with diet plan and exercise. my blood sugar is in target range of what my dietitian advised me. but sometimes i crave sweets like cookies and cake. when i ask my boyfriend for it he puts me down and treats me like it’s my fault i have gestational diabetes. i feel like im in punishment and appreciated. im trying my best to manage my levels. when he says mean things it makes me cry because i feel like im doing everything alone. im overwhelmed with the strict diet plan and the small portion sizes i have to deal with, i feel sad most days. how do i let him know hes hurting me.
