The Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, which has been the anchor of Orlando’s budding “medical city” complex, has recruited two more scientists to join its faculty. These additions bring the number of scientific investigators to 17, more than halfway toward the institute’s goal of 30 investigators.

More kids being diagnosed with adult onset diabetes
Each year nearly 4,000 children are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Kids who develop it by age 9 typically require insulin by the time they reach age 18. Sharon Berry was eager to have her son, Jake, take part in a study focused on kids and Type 2 diabetes. “It was a big concern of mine. My family, on my father’s side, has a history of diabetes,” she said. A Louisiana State University study is …
Has anyone tried the Diabetes DTOUR diet? If so what did you think of it? Can you tell me more about it?
I don’t have diabetes but, according to questions I answered on the Prevention website this would be one of the diets that I could benefit from to lose weight and – especially – belly fat.
Why do doctors think that finding a cure for type 2 diabetes is more important then finding a cure for type 1?
i had a doctor come in to my class today and non stop talk about how they were in pursuit of finding a cure for type 2 diabetes. Im of course glad to hear that, but what about type one. Ive had type one for about 10 years now and i havent heard about any new treatments other then stem cells, and the pump. why? type one is way worse then type 2

More gestational diabetes questions?
I am having a lot of problems with my recent diagnosis of gestational diabetes. I think stress is causing my sugars to be higher than they should be and I am afriad they will want to put me on insulin. I’m not afraid of needles, I just want to manage it with diet.
My Am blood sugar is never more than 100, but sometimes my post-meal blood sugars will creep up to 130. Do you think I’ll be able to stay off insulin?
Anyone else have this horrible irrational fear or stress from GDM?
I guess it’s just really scary, because I had like No risk factors other than being maybe 10 lbs overweight and being 26 years old. No one in my family has diabetes!
Diabetes questions (read more..)?
I had some questions about diabetes (more specifically juvenile diabetes)
1. When taking insilin (prob. spelled wrong), what do they use? An actual needle?
2. What happens if they forget to take the insilin (again, spelled wrong probably)
3. What can’t they eat or drink?
