Child Diabetes Question – need help quick!?
I invited several of my daughter’s friends (ages 3-4) from her daycare to a luau party – the parents of a playmate my daughter particularly likes have sent the RSVP card saying their coming… then, out of the blue, my 3 year old says Mommy, he pokes his finger and makes it bleed. I said Honey why would he do that? She said to check his blood sugar. The fact that she knows this means obviously that she has seen / heard of him doing this and that it’s important.
Therefore, my questions – what suggestions do you have for a menu that would be appropriate for a luau where a child has diabetes? Any recipes? Suggestions? Should I call the mom and ask – (not wanting them to feel akward) I really know my daughter likes this playmate and want him to feel welcome and not left out of “treats” … Thanks

Skim milk and diabetes question?
For the dumkofps at yahoo.answers, I posted a question with regards to a statement in a diabetes blog which was that skim milk made blood sugar go up faster than regular milk and I wonder if anyone knew WHY? How this was NOT a question, I do not know, but I did get a couple of excellent answers that I can now NOT vote on a best answer for, because some over diligent person decided that I did not ask a question!! What part of WHY??? is Not a question?? (that, itself is a question!!!) And yes it is worth the points to ask this. Do I get docked more points because now I have asked 3 questions within one???
My question is regarding diabetes and fasting for lab work?
How long does your dr make you fast before lab work? My dr said 12 hours and that is nearly impossible because my blood sugar gets low at night. A friend said his dr said 8 hours and he is a diabetic also. I can see 12 hours for non diabetics but not for people with diabetes.
Diabetes question thank you very much?
My question is lets say right now I do have diabetes but I do not know because I havnt been checked…so if I have diabetes right now and basically do nothing about it because I do not know I have diabetes. What will evenutally happen? Will I like wake up tommorrow in pain and go to the hospital? Will I like have a seizure? Or what will happen to me so then for exmaple I get a stroke and I go to the hospital they do blood work then find out…so what acutally happens to someone who has diabetes and doesn’t know? Someone told me this which I think is true because I am always scared thinking I have diabetes and other stuff he said “If you had diabetes which you thought you had for almost 3 months you would know you had diabetes something would have been happened.”
Thank you all very very much and take care.
