What will tell me if someone has type 1 or type 2 diabetes?

I have this assignment where we are given a scenario and are supposed to say if the person has type one or two diabetes. What is the definitive clue that I should be looking for? Aren’t the signs and symtoms very similar? I know the onset, severity and cause are different. Thanks!

Are bananas bad for someone with pre-diabetes or insulin resistance?

I have insulin resistance, and last time I checked my blood sugar was ok. But then right after, to kind of reward myself, I started eating more fruit. Before that I didn’t eat fruit or anything sweet at all. And ever since I’ve been eating one banana a day, when I eat my other meals I become sleepy, and I used to have this sleepy reaction when my insulin resistance was pretty bad. Now are bananas bad for me? I really like them? But will I need to quit eating them alltogether or no?

Can someone take insulin tablets ihey suspect they might have diabetes but are afraid to discover it?

I have a friend who is nearly 50 and gets fainting spells from time to time & feels tired easily & has some short term memory loss. He feels he might have diabetes but is afraid to find out because psychologically he is not prepared.

He is thinking about trying out insulin tablets just to see if that helps.

Is there a danger in doing so ?

Any comments or suggestions ?

He doesn’t know English.

I have many symptoms of Diabetes. Can someone please help me with a few questions I have about diabetes?

Recently, I have been experiencing some symptoms of diabetes, my biggest symptoms being increased hunger and thirst, increased urination, cold/tingling hands and feet, fatigue, and dizziness. My grandfather had diabetes, and so did his brothers and sisters (I am not sure about his parents), but as far as we know no one else in my family has the condition. Lately I have been so tired and dizzy that my daily life has been affected- (I tried to go shopping and only made it for about a half an hour). Although (I’m embarrassed to admit) I do tend to eat pretty unhealthily, I am at a normal weight, with a 22.6 BMI. (It is also strange as I have been so hungry I’ve been eating about double what I normally do, maybe even 4,000 calories a day, and it seems like I’ve almost lost weight.. Very strange.)

It basically feels like no matter how much I eat or drink, my body absorbs no energy from the food. I feel famished, shaky, dizzy all the time, even after drinking three water bottles and eating a huge buffet meal.

Does diabetes sound logical? Is there anything else that my symptoms could be from? I will ask the doctor of course, but is there anything else pops into your mind?

Here are where I need answers- My doctor is not available until next Wednesday. Will I be okay waiting until then? In the meantime, is there anything I can do to keep these symptoms at bay until my appointment? How exactly do they test for diabetes? Do they just do a finger prick for blood or do they actually draw a vile of blood? The reason I ask is because the latter terrifies me. And honestly, I’m not sure if I could stay conscious.. I am so lightheaded everyday, and that’s when all of my blood is in my body!

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me.. I really appreciate it and hopefully I’ll feel better soon!

Can someone who had type 2 diabetes but got rid of it with diet and exercise, now suffer from hypoglycemia?

My friend was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes years ago, but lost 50 poiunds through ongoing diet and exercise and the doc said she basically doesn’t have it anymore. Then she started experiencing shakiness and other symptoms in between meals that goes away with food. The doctor said she is likely suffering from hypoglycemia.
